Why this new resort is redefining Easter in the Maldives.
Forget bunnies and basic chocolate eggs – Nova Maldives is taking Easter to an entirely new level, fusing art, culture and community into a one-of-a-kind celebration. The boutique island resort invites guests to a vibrant Easter week. At this time the island transforms into a creative and cultural hotspot unlike anything else in the Indian Ocean.
Creativity Meets Island Culture
The festivities kick off with the KULA Easter Art Market. International guests meet local Maldivian artists in a laid-back cultural exchange. From paintings and textiles to traditional crafts, the event celebrates creativity as a universal language – one that connects across borders.
Guests can also take part in the Easter Creative Expression Workshops, getting hands-on with paints, textures and inspiration – either freestyle or guided by local artists. For something a little more grounded, the traditional ceramic painting classes offer island authenticity, brush by brush.
Easter Egg Hunt & Soul Brunch – With Style
Easter Sunday takes a playful turn, Nova-style. The legendary Easter Egg Hunt promises hidden treasures, art-inspired surprises and sweet treats scattered across the island. Afterwards, guests gather at Soul Kitchen for a beachside brunch full of island flavor – think local specialties with international flair, served with Nova’s signature lightness.
And for those who want to keep the good energy flowing, the Good Vibes Festival delivers. Think live music, beach beats, light installations and barefoot conversations under the stars. Ideal for making new friends or simply letting your soul dance a little.
Holhuashi & the Fisherman’s Market under the Banyan Tree
The cultural highlight of the week? The Holhuashi Festival on Good Friday. Beneath a centuries-old banyan tree, guests are invited to explore Maldivian myths, learn a few words in Dhivehi, and discover the island’s culinary soul – far away from the tourist routine.
Those craving something raw and real can visit the Nova Fisherman’s Market, handpick their own catch of the day, and have it grilled to perfection right on the beach. It doesn’t get fresher than that.
